What does it mean to live a Spirit lead life? & A Ritual for listening to Spirit & bringing in the New Year:

To me it means to create a direct relationship with Spirit (God, Goddess, Nature, whatever is higher for you)

To actively participate in your relationship, to ask questions, make offerings, pray and listen to what comes through. To receive Spirit's guidance and insights and then take aligned action with what has been received.

This means that we start, bit by bit to listen to the Spirits plan, the quiet whisper, the deeper knowing and guidance for what is right for us, which direction to go in and what to choose in our lives.

To me the difference between Spirit's will & our own is often in the pace & the tone of the thoughts and information that comes through.

The faster paced & tighter feelings, thoughts, needs and actions I often find to be my own, of my own ego or parts.

The more spacious, quieter, and vaster the information feels to me, is a sign that it is coming from Spirit.

*I offer these reflections purely from my own experience and really encourage you to try this out for yourself too. 

A Ritual for listening to Spirit & bringing in the New Year:

• Firstly find a spot or space where you feel more connected - This can be at your altar, out in nature at a tree, river, mountain etc or with a sacred totem. It does not matter where the space is or what it looks like, only that it is sacred to you.

• Then close your eyes (if it feels comfortable to you), go inside and feel your connection to the space you have chosen.

• Allow Spirit to meet you there, however he/she comes through (for me she speaks through a tree & the earth) and spend time receiving her there.

• Once you feel settled pay attention to the questions that arise within you, let them flow naturally from you (try not to doubt or change them, trust yourself!) and then listen carefully to the answers.

• Remember you can ask for yourself, for loved ones, your community, your work, your direction etc.... whatever arises within you and then simply listen to the answers.

Sometimes this can be a quick and direct process and other times it takes time.

• Trust the knowing inside of you of what to ask, what feels true, how long you need to be there and feel the difference between the rushing thoughts of your mind and the spaciousness of spirits voice.

• Lastly please remember that your relationship with spirit is reciprocal and that we should endeavour to offer as much as we receive.

Wherever your place of connection is leave an offering - a crystal, flowers, fruit, a prayer, a candle, foraged things, whatever feels right for you.

I hope that this New Years Ritual can help you to set your course for the year ahead and remember this isn't just for NY's, it can be for anytime you need to find direction and guidance from the source of all things.
